Samyang Foods Company was established in 1961 by its current president Choong-yoon Chun. In 1963 the company presented instant noodles on the Korean market. Ramen, a favorite type of instant noodles of Samyang Company, shortly became common because of its reasonable price, easy preparation and taste.
In the 70’s Samyang CO. with its profitability became one of the ten best companies in Korea. Encouraged by its success, company invested money in development of new food products, established over ten sister companies, and built a huge farm in the mountains. Chun created “combined” system which allowed each sister company to provide raw materials to the other companies that were involved in production process. Apart from noodles Samyang Foods Co., Ltd., produces over 100 types of groceries including refreshments, vegetable oil, oily products, milk products, and a number of gravies.
