London is the capital of U.K. and it is the 9th largest city in the world. It lies on the river Thames in the south -east of England. The river Thames flows west to east and divides London into 2 parts. There live about 10 mil. people in London (with its suburbs).
There is much to see in London and still is true what an English writer Samuel Johnson said 200years ago: „When a man is tired of London he is tired of life“.
London is an exciting city of historic buildings, monuments, theatres, parts and interesting museums.
So, there are many places of interest there and we can see them by walking or by various means of transport:
- London famous red double-deckers which go almost everywhere.
- For fast transport we can use „Underground“- this is the oldest in the world.
London is an important centre of transport
- Very popular, as well as quite expensive transport is London taxis (black TX1 that was introduced in October 1997. This modern vehicle continues the distinctive shape and many of the styling cues of the its predecessor FX4 which ran on the roads for 40 years)
- 4 airports : Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton and Stansted are located there.
